Air compressors are industrial systems that are used in various applications like we use them in the manufacturing of our air separation systems. It is a device that converts power (using an electric motor or diesel) into potential energy stored in pressurized air (compressed air). They pump high-pressure air to fill gas cylinders, to supply divers, to help in powering pneumatic HVAC control systems, and to power pneumatic tools. They can also be used for household applications such as filling tires. However, a air compressor is different from a pump because it works for any gas/air, while pumps work on a liquid.

There are two types of air compressors- rotary screw compressor and reciprocating compressor. The former is designed in such a way that its internal rotors are sealed with compressor oil to stop its wear and tear. On the other hand, reciprocating compressor tends to lose its performance and efficiency with age. A rotary compressor continues to perform at its optimum level during its entire life.
